We have finally finished all the necessary requirements that had been assigned to us, everything is submitted and now all that is left is to sit here and reflect on the experience of the 3 fun, weird, stressful, exciting months that we had. This was my first time fully and professionally leading a team of 8 people. I had a co-producer who had helped me manage the workload, we had actually divided the work according to our strengths and weaknesses.
I really enjoyed breaking things down and organising, creating a production schedule, shortlisting the actors with the director and the co-producers, attending the auditions, finding the locations etc. I had really learned a lot from this production, from dealing with difficult people to getting better at organising and planning things through and getting sponsors that were willing to help. However I did struggle a lot during this project, even though it is a lot of fun to be a part of it was also stressful. From this project I had really highlighted my weaknesses one of which, that I tend to be a bit too controlling sometimes, which makes other people in my team very uncomfortable and stressed out. However, when the concerns were raised and I have been told that I would get updates instead of me having to ask, I had backed off. Unfortunately, this was a mistake as then a few things fell through and had been forgotten/not been updated. That is why we ended up submitting last minute on Thursday. I realize that once I am set on a goal of completing a project I can sometimes become a bit overbearing and overly controlling which I know I really must work on.
Going further I will really have to work and try to be less controlling but yet still keep on track of what the goal is. It was great working with this crew, even though we had our differences.
